Attendance

To ensure that the students are getting the most out of the school academic day general gules and regulation have been placed to ensure fairness to all students. Parents are required to explain those rules to the students and motivate them to follow them at all times.

School Day

Kindergarten: 7:30 a.m. ‐ 1:00 p.m.
Primary and Middle School: 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Students should not arrive at school before 7:15 a.m. and should be picked up between 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. There is no direct adult supervision prior to 7:15 a.m. and after 3:45 p.m. Absences are marked after 8:00 a.m.

Students should plan to leave the school building and grounds promptly at dismissal time unless detained for a school reason or registered in Extra-Curriculum Activates Program. Parents will be notified in advance if the student is detained at school for detention.

School Attendance Policy

Attendance: A student is considered to be present at school if away from school on a school field trip and engaged in an educational activity that constitutes a school approved instructional program or activity.

Absence: A student who is not present for his or her instructional classes or program at school on a school day is marked absent.

Attendance is required of all students enrolled in the schools during the days and hours that the school is in session.  School attendance shall be the responsibility of parents/guardians and students. Absences shall be reported to the school by the parent as soon as practicable.

Absence Report: Absences must be reported in writing to the school by the parent/guardian as soon as possible.  Failure to report and explain the absence(s) shall result in unexcused absence(s)

Long Absence: when a student has been absent three (3) consecutive days and the school has been unable to ascertain the reason for the absences, the absences shall be investigated at any other time if deemed necessary by the school.

Make-up work and Student Grading

One day of make-up privilege will be granted for each day of absence up to a maximum of five school days, regardless of the length of the absence. If notification of a test was given before the absence, the student will be expected to take the test the day he/she returns to school. The student shall have a reasonable amount of time, left up to the discretion of the teacher, to complete make-up work. Students who are suspended from school may have make-up privileges. These privileges will be explained in the suspension letter.

Visitors at School

Parents, visitors, and volunteers may visit the school office at any time given advance notification by phone or email.  It is necessary for visitors to identify themselves to the school reception prior to contacting a child or entering school grounds. Children who are not enrolled in the school are not permitted to come to school with other students. Parents and other visitors must register with the security upon arrival and obtain a visitor’s badge before going to any other part of the building. Visitors without a preset appointment will be required to submit their ID to obtain a visitor badge. This policy applies before and after school as well. This is done for the protection of the children. If you would like to observe while your child in is in class, please call the school front office to schedule an appointment. When visiting your child’s room, remember you are an observer unless the teacher has asked you to volunteer or conference. Please limit your time in the classroom to 20‐30 minutes as it may become a distraction to your child and the other children.

Sign-out Procedures

Students will not be released during the day unless a parent or guardian comes personally to the school office to sign them out. Identification will be required to sign a student out of school into the custody of any third party other than the parents and/or guardians unless instructed by the parents/guardians to the school in writing. Signing out early not only means lost instructional time for the student, but it is also disruptive to the teaching and learning activities being conducted in the classroom and is thereby prohibited except in emergencies. Signing a student out early to avoid dismissal traffic is not allowed.
